Stephen Thomas has entered into a writing contest to become a writer for the NCAA. When he receives the letter that says he won the contest, he is ecstatic. When he finally gets to the Final Four he is doing a story on a Minnesota State player named Chip Graber and he does this story with Susan Carol Anderson. Chip is getting blackmailed into throwing a Final Four game for Minnesota State. The book Last Shot by John Feinstein is a book that I recommend to be read because it always has you on the edge of your seat with the anticipation of what is going to happen next. Feinstein keeps you on the edge of your seat with his foreshadowing and proving your predictions to be wrong.
Feinstein uses foreshadowing in the smallest areas. While Stephen is preparing to leave he hopes that nothing negative will happen while he is there. Feinstein used this as an example of foreshadowing because the exact opposite happens to Stephen and especially Chip. He also proves your predictions to be wrong because he leads you into the direction of one thing when he totally turns that around in the book. You really don’t know what is going to happen next, and my guesses were completely off while I was reading. Feinstein definitely shows his foreshadowing skills, as well as his skills to prove your predictions to be wrong.
